Hijab of Negligence (Ghaflah)
Ghaflah (heedlessness) is one of the veils of the human
heart. The negligence meant here is the negligence of the human heart from
remembering and witnessing the Divinity of Allahﷻ and the things of the
hereafter. This negligence is caused by the negligence of the heart which is
inclined and focused only on material things. A very strong bond of love
towards worldly or material things causes the heart to always be focused on
those things. When the heart starts to focus and is bound to those things, then
the inclination and focus on divine realities and things of the hereafter
become weak. . The stronger the attachment of the human heart to worldly and
material things, the weaker the heart's focus on divine realities and the
things of the hereafter. The Qur'an has hinted at this fact as Allahﷻ said:
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ
"It means: Allah s.w.t does not make for a person two hearts
(focus) in his chest cavity".
To remove these spiritual hijabs (obstacles) a person needs
to performTazkiyat Al-Nafs.
