Hijabs That Prevent Man From Reaching The Purpose Of His Creation
There are many hijabs
that cover the human soul until it is prevented from achieving the essence of
`Ubudiyyah which is the purpose of its creation. Among the hijabs are
ignorance, sin, the devil, Basyariyyah attributes, and negligence. These hijabs
are in fact very closely related to each other.
1-Hijab of Ignorance
Ignorance is the veil of most people. People who are in a
state of ignorance are like people who walk in darkness. Because of ignorance, a
person is veiled from his Lord so that he does not know Him with true
identification. Because of ignorance, a person is veiled from knowing the orders
and prohibitions of his god until he ignores the demands of his religion in
life in this world. Because of ignorance, a person is veiled from knowing the
afterlife that he will definitely face so he does not make enough preparations
for that purpose.
The Hijab of ignorance is the first hijab that must be removed
from a person. The command and obligation to seek knowledge for every Muslim is
to remove this hijab of ignorance. Rasulullahﷺ said:
طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيْضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
"Meaning: Seeking knowledge is an obligation of every
Muslim."
Imam al-Ghazali has placed knowledge as the first obstacle
that needs to be overcome by everyone who wants to live the religious path and
get closer to Allahﷻ. A description of this matter can be seen in his work
