The Effects of the Hijab Spirituality
The existence of these obstacles causes the impurity of the human soul and the hardness of its heart until it becomes further and further away from its creator. People who are spiritually veiled are in a state of oblivion (ghaflah) like people who are sleeping. Just as the person who is sleeping is not aware of the events happening around him, so is the person who is spiritually veiled.
He is not aware of the existence of God who is
characterized by the attributes of majesty, beauty, and perfection. He is
unaware of the existence of a creator who created him, who regulates his life
affairs, who has power over him, who knows about him, who gives him innumerable
favors, who fulfills his needs, and so on. He is unaware of the death that will
come to every living being and also the events that will happen after it. This
fact is contained in what is narrated:
النَاْسُ نِيَاْمٌ فَإِذَاْ مَاْتُوْا انْتَبَهُوْا
Meaning: Humans sleep, when they are dead, they start to wake
up.
Spiritual human beings who are veiled and do not go through
the process of Tazkiyat Al-Nafs will be afflicted with various spiritual
diseases that will destroy them. The cause of all diseases of the heart is the
love of the world (infatuation with worldly pleasures that leads to the
destruction of one's religion and morals). Prophet `Isa a.s. has explained this
fact as his Majesty said:
حُبُّ الْدُنْيَاْ أَصْلُ كُلِّ خَطِيْئَةٍ
Meaning: The love of the world is the cause of all mistakes
(sins).
