Remembering Allah at all Times Helps us Keep our Focus
Human beings are prone to forgetfulness and the constant remembrance of Allah reminds us of Allah at all times and places. One of the advice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was:
Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah. (At-Tirmidhi)
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٢٨
"Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest! "
(Surah Ar Raad:28)
- Dhikr: The act of remembering Allah, which can include reciting the names of God or supplications from the Quran or hadith. Dhikr is considered one of the best deeds of a believer and can bring peace and tranquility to the heart
- Pray: Worship Allah to show gratitude. Pray sunnah prayers and tahajjud prayers regularly, as consistency brings blessings.
- Practice mindfulness: Meditation and mindfulness are an integral part of Islam. The Prophet would retreat to a quiet place to find clarity and refuge.
- Give charity: Donating to charity can strengthen faith in Allah and protect from hardships
- Read or listen to the Quran: Recite or listen to the Quran.
- Connect to Allah through His Names: Learn about Allah's Names by reading a book, listening to lectures, or attending a class. Reflect on the names each time you come across them while reciting the Quran.
- Be kind to His creation: Show kindness to Allah's creation
- Repent and strive to be better: Repent and strive to be better through istighfar.
- Talk to Allah: Talk to Allah and make Him your friend through dua.
- Eat and earn halal: Eat and earn halal, which means purity.
